Project 1 - Instructable Infographic

Recipe Poster Design

As the title suggests, for this project we are tasked with the creation of recipe infographic poster design. One that features and utilizes all the design principles we've encountered in classes which will be then animated in the next project.

My recipe of choice is Creme Brulee. And as a certain man once said, "Creme Brulee, coming from France, obviously, is a dish best served cold. Made of cream... In the same time that they said let them eat cake they also said let them eat cream. And that's what we're gonna be making today." - Markiplier, 2019.

And a recipe inforgraphic for which, I will be making for this project. The recipe for my reference being here.

 Early Sketches.

 Initially I considered some potential methods of portraying the process. One way was to show a cross section diagram or layered diagram like the one seen in the figure above in the bottom right. I decided against it as it felt a little too generic. The second option was the idea of a conveyor belt style design where the different stations would represent the various steps in the recipe. This ended up being the choice I went with.

 After digitalizing the sketch I proceeded with the vectoring of the assets. Initially the idea was to have a river acting as the guide to the steps as if the ramekin was floating to the various steps instead of a conveyor belt as the latter seemed a little too industrial.

 However, this ended up making the composition a little too crowded and made putting in words a problem as the river intersects with almost everything, making the whole thing look messy. With that, I changed approach and used a more geometric look not unlike a flow chart. Alongside that, I also applied a more modernist style to the different stations.

Project 2 - Animated Infographic

After the creation of the poster, we moved on to the second project, which was to animate the infographic into either a short video or a looping gif. I chose to go with the latter. The process for which involved breaking the assets into their own compositions in AfterEffects and adding some transitions.

Design Research Methodology - Research Report and Presentation

Week 12 - Week 14 Teoh Hoong Boon (Julius) | 0338478 Design Research Methodology Secondary Research (Critical Review) Instructions Week 12 With the final loose ends of the research implementation being tied up, we were to start preparing for our final report and presentation. Feedback: The questionnaire and are done, though I need to work on getting more responses if possible. Work on compiling the data should also begin. Week 13 Below is the report slides for my research. Feedback: I need to work on updating the blog to reflect the results and progress I have so far. I should also hasten work on presentation and report. Week 14 Below is my presentation slides. Feedback: Presentation was well received. One comment to take note is to continue to bolster the number of quantitative results in the time leading up to dissertation so that a better picture can be painted and the trend can be more clearer.

Character Design - Development Compilation

Teoh Hoong Boon (Julius) | 0338478 Character Design Development Compilation Module Info Instructions As the name of the module suggests,the assignment given to us is to develop a world and two characters based on the idea of "big & small". This can be in the form of parent and child, protagonist and companion and so on. A criteria regardless of the relationship of the character is that one has to be humanoid and ideally the size difference should be somewhat obvious though not immensely necessary. Task 1: World-building My concept actually begins further back than the semester. I have had this idea floating about my brain for quite sometime and have actually tried giving form to it before, though not in detail.
