Final Project - Animated Infographic

Narrative and Storyboard

For the final project, the task given to us was to design and animate an infographic video of at least 1 minute and 30 seconds to at most 3 minutes. This project is a group assignment consisting of four people per group (with some exceptions). The theme my group was given is Men vs Women, and we were to think of a medium in which we could explore this theme. Our group decided with the realm of social media usage between the two genders.

 The first step to any video and animation production would be to consider the narrative and the data to deliver. Below is a our take on the narrative for the video.

With the narrative in hand, the next step was to consider the visual style and storyboard. After we had an idea of the art direction, we were advised to assign one person to do a rough storyboard so as to maintain some consistency. The role of doing the storyboard fell to me.

After the storyboard was done, we were to edit it into an animatic to show how the whole thing would flow with a voiced narrative. Below is the animatic I animated after another team member voiced the lines.

With our art direction approved, we proceed to make the assets for the animation, which mainly consists of the characters that the animation focuses on.

Design Research Methodology - Research Report and Presentation

Week 12 - Week 14 Teoh Hoong Boon (Julius) | 0338478 Design Research Methodology Secondary Research (Critical Review) Instructions Week 12 With the final loose ends of the research implementation being tied up, we were to start preparing for our final report and presentation. Feedback: The questionnaire and are done, though I need to work on getting more responses if possible. Work on compiling the data should also begin. Week 13 Below is the report slides for my research. Feedback: I need to work on updating the blog to reflect the results and progress I have so far. I should also hasten work on presentation and report. Week 14 Below is my presentation slides. Feedback: Presentation was well received. One comment to take note is to continue to bolster the number of quantitative results in the time leading up to dissertation so that a better picture can be painted and the trend can be more clearer.

Character Design - Development Compilation

Teoh Hoong Boon (Julius) | 0338478 Character Design Development Compilation Module Info Instructions As the name of the module suggests,the assignment given to us is to develop a world and two characters based on the idea of "big & small". This can be in the form of parent and child, protagonist and companion and so on. A criteria regardless of the relationship of the character is that one has to be humanoid and ideally the size difference should be somewhat obvious though not immensely necessary. Task 1: World-building My concept actually begins further back than the semester. I have had this idea floating about my brain for quite sometime and have actually tried giving form to it before, though not in detail.
