Week 5

This week we were given the rundown on the basics on doing secondary research, otherwise known as critical review. Basically we were told that a critical review is to take an existing research paper or article that is related or similar to our topic of choice and critique the methodology and tactics used in gathering data and drawing the conclusions. Essentially we are basically taking inspiration from other people's research as well as looking out for things we can potentially do better in our own research.



Week 6

This week were lectured on the basics of research techniques as well as on quantitative and qualitative research. Being advised on the difference between the two, we were told to keep this information in mind as we would need to use it later on in our own research.

Week 4

This week we were briefed on our second project for the module. We were to start searching for online research articles that we could use for our critical review in the process of secondary research. We were advised to avoid blogs and books in our search and that we would be showing what we can find the week after. We were to find a total of ten articles.


Week 5

This week we updated our respective lecturers on our progress in finding research articles. Showing Dr. Hayati my progress, she advised me to be more specific in my searches in order to get more relevant articles as well as being wary on whether if the research I critique can benefit my later research.

Feedback:
So far I have found 3 articles. I need to be wary on whether the articles I have found are actually journal articles or regular articles. I can also begin practice writing with the articles I have found should they be suitable.


Week 6

This week we were to show our progress on the critique writing. I showed the one that I managed to do as I was still having trouble finding articles that fit my topic idea. Dr. Hayati says that my writing is critical and reasonable though she advised me to add a bit more of my own personal impressions of the article. I was also advised to speed up my progress in order to be ready for next week's submission.

Feedback:
Writing is decent but certain choice of words could be better. Critique needs to include some personal takeaways or impressions. I am to hasten my progress in order to meet the deadline.


Week 7

This week we were to submit our ten critical reviews.

Feedback:
Do take note on the nature of the articles chosen. Some may actually be extracts from books which leads to the long length. I need to tie up loose ends to meet the extended deadline. I am also to start preparing research implementation material for the next week.

Design Research Methodology - Research Report and Presentation

Week 12 - Week 14 Teoh Hoong Boon (Julius) | 0338478 Design Research Methodology Secondary Research (Critical Review) Instructions Week 12 With the final loose ends of the research implementation being tied up, we were to start preparing for our final report and presentation. Feedback: The questionnaire and are done, though I need to work on getting more responses if possible. Work on compiling the data should also begin. Week 13 Below is the report slides for my research. Feedback: I need to work on updating the blog to reflect the results and progress I have so far. I should also hasten work on presentation and report. Week 14 Below is my presentation slides. Feedback: Presentation was well received. One comment to take note is to continue to bolster the number of quantitative results in the time leading up to dissertation so that a better picture can be painted and the trend can be more clearer.

This can be in the form of parent and child, protagonist and companion and so on. A criteria regardless of the relationship of the character is that one has to be humanoid and ideally the size difference should be somewhat obvious though not immensely necessary.
